KATIE FINNERAN HAS BEEN CAST AS MISS HANNIGAN

5-30-2012

Katie Finneran, who won Tony Awards for her turns in revivals of Promises, Promises and Noises Off, will play orphanage matron Miss Hannigan in the new Broadway production of Annie.

Finneran, who is beloved by New York audiences and critics for her daffy turns as bimbos on Broadway, said in a statement, "Miss Hannigan is one of the great musical comedy roles and I cannot wait to play her, in all of her deliciously evil glory. I played Hannigan in my parents' living room when I was eight years old and the chance to play her in this new Broadway production is a dream come true."

MEET THE ORPHANS

5-16-2012

After more than 5,000 auditions in a coast-to-coast search, we are pleased to announce casting for the orphans, which features Emily Rosenfeld as Molly, Tyrah Skye Odoms as Kate, Junah Jang as Tessie, Georgi James as Pepper, Madi Rae DiPietro as July, and Taylor Richardson as Duffy. Jaidyn Young will be the standby for the roles of Annie, Pepper, Duffy and July.

Junah Jang, Taylor Richardson and Emily Rosenfeld were all discovered at one of the production's open casting calls.

As previously announced, 11-year-old Lilla Crawford (Billy Elliot) will star in the title role of ANNIE.  Additional casting will be announced in coming weeks.

"We saw so many wonderful young girls for these roles," commented producer Arielle Tepper Madover. "I wish we could have cast them all!   The orphans are always a highlight of ANNIE and we think we have an amazing, unbelievably talented group with Emily, Tyrah, Junah, Georgi, Madi Rae and Taylor.  I think audiences will fall in love with each and every one of them.  We also are incredibly fortunate to have Jaidyn Young as our standby for the roles of Annie and several of the orphans. She's enormously talented and we're lucky to have her with us."
